Mission, Vision and Values
Our Mission: We exist to help ordinary people become spiritually thriving servants of Christ for the sake of the world
Our Vision: We strive to be a church of passionate prayer, faith-filled homes, and radical outreach
Our Core Values:
- Lost people matter to God, and therefore they matter to us.
- God accepts us as we are, but loves us too much to leave us there.
- We provide a warm, safe, non-threatening environment in which to respond to the radical call of Christ.
- Every believer is gifted to serve as a minister in the church.
- The church should be culturally relevant, while remaining Biblically true.
- A thriving spirituality requires celebrative worship, small group involvement, and service in the body.
- Personal prayer and the study of scripture are basic to life in Christ.

Our Worship
Our worship services are designed to be relevant and engaging.
We use a contemporary worship style that includes sermons, scripture, singing, and sharing.
Our praise band fills the sanctuary with mostly contemporary Christian songs as our members’ voices join them from their seats.
We add impact to our message by integrating creative elements into our services on occasion.
Pastor Matthew’s sermons are Biblically based, discuss real issues of the day, and are presented in a relaxed, engaging style with sprinkles of healthy humor along the way.
Most importantly, our worship services are designed to leave you walking away spiritually refreshed and ready to take on the week ahead.
Our Pastor
Matthew Finch has been our pastor since the summer of 2022.
He loves the church and the area. He is excited about the direction Farmington Community Church is going.
Matthew’s wife Anne is a Physician’s Assistant at Thompson Hospital. They have four boys, Joshua, Kieran, Gabriel, and Sebastian.
Prior to coming to Farmington, Matthew was appointed at Hemlock and Naples churches.
His hobbies include playing golf and officiating games as a certified Girl’s Basketball Official for Section 5.

Our Story
In 1987 a small group of committed Christians were led by God to plant a new church in the Farmington, NY area under the leadership of Pastor Bill Vallet as a United Methodist Church.
For the first seven years they met in a hotel near the New York State Thruway, setting up their sanctuary every Sunday and using various rooms for classrooms, nursery, etc.
In 1994 the fledgling congregation moved into our present facility, located near the intersection of Route 332 and County Road 41 (entrance located on County Road 41 directly across from Beaver Creek Road).
In 1996 George McCracken came for a year and served as interim pastor.
In 1997 Pastor Jeff Long became the new permanent pastor – providing 23 years of service. Jeff retired in June 2021. Sadly, Pastor Jeff passed away suddenly on July 15, 2022.
In 2021 (ret.) Pastor Anne O’Connor stepped into the role of interim Pastor with shared responsibilities with Associate Interim Pastor Dan Kulp. Together, they served and ministered to Farmington UMC.
In 2022 Pastor Matthew Finch became the new permanent pastor. He was previously assigned to Hemlock UMC and Naples UMC.
In 2023 The congregation voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist denomination, and affiliate with the new Global Methodist Church (GMC). Following this, we changed our name from Farmington United Methodist Church, to Farmington Community Church.

Our Facility
Built in 1994, our facility is a multi-purpose, one story structure that is flexible and can support multiple types of events.
The sanctuary is a large, open space with chairs and no pews designed to facilitate multiple room configurations. It’s primarily used for worship, but can also be used for pageant performances, charity and fellowship dinners, local blood drives, family game nights, receptions, and more.
Our facility also has multiple small rooms that can be used to host various meetings, programs, and ministries.
Additionally, we have a working kitchen that can be used to support various functions.
Designated nursery space, children’s program rooms, offices and a library complete the facility space.
