Small Groups

The primary way that we help people grow in their faith and develop relationships with each other is through our small groups. We are excited to offer two types of small groups at FCC: Community Groups and Discipleship Bands.

Community Groups

Community Groups are groups of 6-12 people who meet weekly to connect, fellowship, encourage each other, pray, and apply the Bible to their everyday lives. We can each read the Bible on our own, but it’s when we apply what the Bible says to our lives that we really grow to be more Jesus-centered. This life application happens best in community, where we share our insights and learn from others. A typical Community Group meeting lasts 1-2 hours, and will involve a time of food and fellowship, a discussion time, and time for prayer.

Community Groups meet during the school year in two semesters, with additional short-term group opportunities at other times (like summer) as well. We offer sign-ups for our on-going Community Groups during our worship services in September and January to make it easy to join, but the groups are open to new members or visitors at any time. We offer groups at various times and days of the week, with some meeting in homes and others meeting at the church. Child care is addressed by each group as needed.

A Community Group is a great place to connect with others who can support and encourage you on your faith journey. Everyone is invited to participate. For a list of current Community Groups, contact our small groups director at

Discipleship Bands

A Discipleship Band is a group of 3-5 men or women who meet weekly to engage in transformational questions and prayer, with the aim of becoming the love of God for one another and the world. The Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation. John Wesley wanted to have a place where early Methodists could gather and be fully known and be fully loved – a place where they could pursue holiness through deep bonds with other believers. He called these groups “Band Meetings”.

Here at FCC, we are going back to our roots and doing discipleship in the context of authentic relationships. Discipleship Bands choose their own meeting time and place, and new ones can be formed at any time. They work well for those who can’t fit a regular Community Group into their schedule, or want a higher level of accountability. You can get more detailed information about Discipleship Bands at www.discipleshipbands.com and by emailing us at groups@farmingtoncommunitychurch.org.
